  1. So I’m confused: is there ONE unit that can charge two EVs simultaneously? My current charger is on a 50A circuit…We just got a 2nd EV and so I want to be able to charge both of them without installing a whole new circuit.

  2. I’m looking to install a level 2 EV charger at my home but it has to be outside. Are there any outdoor covers that can lock, so only I can have access to the charger?

  3. It did go wrong. I was listening to you two years ago i bought that dumb, Alpha charging machine all the functions still notrelieves yet 😂

  4. We would like to install a charger at our VRBO rental property, but we do not want charging to be available to the general public. Ideally, we would like to restrict it to people staying at our property. Do any of these chargers have this capability?

  5. I prefer Blink Charging as the company must maintain a stringent safety protocol to continue their government contracts. Blink has also gone global with BYD Autos by selling BLNK stations in dealerships.

  6. Tom, based on a user suggestion, Elon promised to update the software of the Tesla home charger enabling the user to set a time when the car needed to be done charging. Like I put in for charging to be done by 8am, etc. Is there an independent charger working on something like this? Or does one already exist?

  7. I greatly appreciate your reviews and these summary reviews! When I bought an EV I did a bunch of research on all the various car options out there, and there was a variety of sources of reviews… some seemingly more or less objective than others. But, when searching for an EV charger… oof… not a lot of reviewers… and not a lot of trust in the depth, quality, or impartiality of the reviews… except for your channel! You are willing to both sing the praises of a charger’s good qualities and rail against the bad qualities. And, for the truly skeptical, it’s not like we have to just take your opinion. Your videos show the tests and showcase all the evidence for anyone to draw their own conclusions if they have a different takeaway. Such a high quality and respectable channel. Thanks for all your research and reviews!

  8. Hi: These reviews are excellent. In the ChargerRater system for the Charge Point Flex – The Access Control category shows point charge of 3, 2 and 0, but you’ve given the category a 1. I’m going to assume that the Access control is "In App" and that the value for it should be 1 point??

  9. When you talk about cable performance, for example, the Grizzl-e, does that just mean it becomes stiff or the actual flow of electricity is impeded by cold weather?

  10. I bought the Emporia way before this b
Video was out, but I completly agree with the review. Absolutely no problems for.well over a year.

  11. Amazon sells 80 amp/19.2 kw hardwired home chargers for Ev cars. The home circuit breaker box should have 100 amp fuses.

  12. Just out of curiosity, how much should I expect to have a charger hardwired in my garage with an existing Nema 14-50 and appears to have been wired for 100A (all new construction). I expect it shouldn’t be that expensive since it should be a quick install, but I have no idea if a quote may be overcharging for what I believe is a quick install.

  13. My 2018 tesla came with the mobile connector at not extra cost. I can charge at 32 amps which is enough for me. 6+ years later, it is still working great even with charging two separate Tesla vehicles since 2021.

  14. The EVIQO now has a standard 3-year warranty (no “if you leave a review” requirement). They offer a 4 year at extra cost.

  15. What are your thoughts about the Mercedes Wallbox Charger? Do you have a segment on the Wallbox? Thank you

  16. Thanks for a nice and detailed ‘hardware-level’ review. Next time, I wish you also had a comparison for the software capabilities of each charger.

  17. I bought the 40 amp rated ClipperCreek charger seven years ago with hardwired junction box. I didn’t want to deal with any issues with 14-50 outlets. It is a dumb, non-Wi-Fi connected charge station and therefore nothing to become obsolete or break. I’m completely happy with it.

  18. Great review as always. Update on Emporia. They have recently forced a software update on all of their chargers that will reduce charging speed to 24A when an internal sensor exceeds 65 degrees (they claim). This is resulting in chargers that are even kept in cool garages now throttling their speed to 24A (though not becoming particularly hot when touched on the outside). Emporia is refusing to roll back the software or update it and has started accepting refund claims from disgrunted users like myself.

  19. I think state of charge may get the mechanical and hardware side of his reviews as acceptable but he lacks on the performance and capabilities side of the equation on what they do . Can they adjust there charging tine speeds ? Say you want a specific amount of tine to charge your vehichle during peak solar. You only need it to charge at a rate to get to your specific state of charge in the tine frame that is designated.

Charging to the capacity of your solar is a great idea but you need a bunch of ither equipnent to do it. The charger shoukd be all rhat is needed because the information how nuch solar your producing is already avaikable from your system . Just have to have the charger recognizes this and adjust accordingly . So state of charge says yes it can use just solar to charge exclusively but doesnt give the particulars and the charger itself doesn’t have that capability . The same fir adjusting charge speeds and amperage. It seems like they are narrow parrameters for just the maxiymum amperage of a circuit . Say i want to charge at 42 amps instead of 48 . Most really cant do that and state of charge kind of gives the impression you have a sliding scale of adjustment . I have found some cheap mobile chargers with better capabilities in that department . Now i understand Tesla cars can make those adjustments in the car itself but evs like the ford lightning cant . So your stuck at a limited charging speed of the charger . I dont calk any of these chargers are smart . Tesla seems to have a good system to work with their solar but that is not through the charger . Its through the car . Their unversal charger can not apply this to none tesla evs to work with tesla solar because basically the charger is dumb but the Tesla car is smart .

State of charge misses the most important part of the charger which is what it can do and when that it is explained it is a bit misleading like rate of charge and adjusting the amps . Now it seems everyone has this peoblem with the new shiney new item

  20. I think the Grizzl-E is the most honorable one. You can feel good about supporting a real North American (Canadian) business. Plus Gleb, its CEO, is a really nice guy. And they are going to handle European production in Ukraine. How cool is that !!!
AND you wouldn’t be supporting an awful person with despicable views.
    Go Grizzl-E go!
They JUST came out with a 48A and 80A one. I wouldn’t get the 80A one because that’s overboard. But the 48A is hardwired and does the max on a regular 60 amp circuit! THAT is the one to go for! You avoid that darn risky 14-50 plug. One less wire needed. Run 6 gauge THWN through PVC conduit and/or liquid tight, making for a beautiful setup, plus a regular 60A disconnect switch, and Bob’s your Uncle. Prep your setup, pull a permit, or else have an electrician verify it and bless it.

  21. FYI the Wallbox (40a) was sold by the Fisker auto company along with the Fisker branding. Since Fisker is going bankrupt, the Wallboxes are being liquidated for $250. Definitely a great deal while they still have them in stock.

  22. Great information, and really like the way you break it down into categories to help make an informed decision. Any chance you are going to review the new Apex Charger Mach II? Looks like a great deal at only 350.00.

  23. Is there a home charger out there that doesn’t require WiFi to operate? Basically a plug and play. Preferably 50/60 amp.

  24. I bought wallbox 3 months ago the last month my box does not working properly, the wallbox does not have costumer support , now I am stuck with broken box €1300 please take the wallbox of your self thanks

  25. Level 2 "chargers" (actually, just a glorified extension cord with a NACS plug) are on Amazon and elsewhere for around $100 now.
    What about those?

  26. I am impressed by the rigorous practical effort demonstrated in testing the EV charging devices. Thank you so much! ❤💯👏🏿👍🏿🎶

  27. I just bought a Range Rover sport which has both J1772 and NACS plugs built in. I want to go with the NACS wired option. Which one would you recommend ? Thanks for the reviews.

  28. I appreciate the development and content of this video, but man is Qmerit doing us customers wrong. And The proof is on the BBB page. Sorry Tom, you do good work, but you’re backed by the WeWork of Home Electrification companies.

  29. Question What EV charging brand allows me to set the amount of Percentage charge. Allow me to stop charging at 80% full. My plugin hybrid does not allow me to set any setting of a % charge Thank you RB

  30. Why does anyone even need one of these chargers. Can’t you just plug your charging cord directly into a 240v outlet?
