  1. We are designing a hardware that can implement IR2Mqtt. This will be the first IR blaster dedicated to home assistants, eliminating the need to tediously learn every infrared code.

  2. Pretty cool but I’ll always prefer a remote I can feel and click without having to look at. Touch for play/pause and move up/down/sideways isn’t for me. If we could have both it would be awesome.

  3. I’m still holding out hope for the Unfolded Circle Remote 3. Touch screen is good for a large list of rarely accessed buttons or dynamic content, but for transport controls I definitely prefer physical buttons.

  4. On my TV remote, you can assign any app to the number keys. You open the app by long pressing the corresponding number app.

  5. I built this in Home Assistant so it can be used on ANY Android or iPhone. It’s controlling my Apple TV and works great!

  6. Had a similar idea, but encountered an issue: if the apple tv is off for several hour – only the native remote wakes it. Did you had any such troubles with yours?
