I bought a scam energy saver and made it actually save energy!

There are all kinds of plug in the wall “energy saver” boxes. None of these save energy or do anything. I thought I’d buy a cheap one and modify it to actually save energy — just for fun.

This is sold under different names “Stopwatt” “eocwatt pro” “Stop Watt”, “Stop Eenergy Watt Power Smart Energy Saver”, “Electricity svings box”, etc. If it was that easy to “save energy”, the power grid operators would already be implementing it.

  1. I fell for it. I too tested and opened it. I did not cut parts snip wires or anything techno, I threw it in the garbage.

  2. Thanks for the morning laugh, too funny! Thanks for breaking it open to expose the truth. Good job. πŸ™‚ A+

  3. I was looking up some things on Google and saw an article on how to save money on electricity bills and saw it was talking about "the white box" and I’m like this must be legit and I haven’t known about it. I was looking for a video of pros and cons and wasn’t expecting a video like this…. I’m impressed with how well you explained and it literally to the point, plus funny. Hey, kudos to you πŸ«°β€πŸ‘πŸ«¦πŸ‘

  4. Those things do save energy/money. If you plug them into outlets and super glue them in place then you will have fewer available outlets which will result in you using devices less often, this saving money.

  5. How many tons of sons of bitches making money in this world with the ignorance of others, the worst thing is that the laws authorize these shits to steal legally… all for the sake of collecting taxes..

  6. Hey, if you have a blind wife, she won’t know you’ve torrents out the lights to save electricity. You can get her a present.

  7. I’m not an electrician but I operated power plants for the local utility for years so I know a fair amount. These scam artists are genius with deceptive words but I was quite confident this device would actually increase your electric bill slightly. I watched several videos trying to warn folks not to buy this thing but yours was the only one that got into the actual electronics. I laughed my head off when you demonstrated the magic black box had absolutely no connection to the circuit and then the magic pixie dust was gold! Then as a grand finale shorting the circuit to trip the breaker in order to save energy. I loved it. So funny. It’s amazing what unsuspecting people will buy. Thanks for the video!

  8. So which are the best outlets in the house to plug this into? Would it have to be the outlet that I’m using currently or could it be one in the same room? No one seems to specify this online. I haven’t found it yet.

  9. The only way these "devices" save money on electricity is by unplugging some other appliance in order to plug this "device" into the now open receptacle. I thought that there was some governmental agency that was supposed to verify the legitimacy of these products offered on tv; I don’t think the authority extends to the web but there should be some regulatory control over scam operators like those that advertise cutting electric bills by 90%. A by-product of the initial scam is by offering a very low price for the "device" and then a very large shipping cost. That way they can offer 30/60/90 day refunds since they only refund the charge for the devices but original shipping charges and return shipping fees are at the expense of the consumer. Do not get sucked in on these scam artists.

  10. My friend bought some of here and he swears it works I’ve been curious feels like a scam to me and there is many different ones that claim the same thing lots of them have bad reviews

  11. I didn’t know this scam is world wideπŸ˜‚
For residential purpose only 2 way to reduce electricity bill – 1)use led, if don’t need off the lights/appliances. 2) use renewable energy sources eg. Solar especially if your consumption is moderate to high

  12. I’ve had one for years and use it to monitor how many watts an appliance uses. My through-window a/c unit pulls 300 watts on low and 375 on high. My O2 condenser uses 600 watts. How I use my appliances is now informed by data. I know I pay 12 cents per kilowatt/hour and can do the arithmetic to get my cost per hour, per day and per year. Approximately 🎱

  13. If everyone would keep in mind that 99.99% of people wanting your money has a scam attached to it. Easier said than done I guess. by the way could I get some of that pixie dust?

  14. Hello I would like to discuss with you an issue I’m having w our power company NYSEG we received a ridiculous bill while living in our RV I received a $3069 bill for 10 months as they claim we received estimated bills but we have 4 yr history of bills under $75 /month. Quick question the power company states that they supply what we call for. This doesn’t make sense to me as I have a 50amp service w an inverter, winnebago stated that there’s no way possible for us to be using the amount of power that power company is saying that we’re using because of the inverter and the 50 a.m. service it would shut off our electric continuously. Is there a way for the power company to be sending power that’s not being used. I was told of a term called fall off and I am not the only one in our close proximity two of my neighbors are having a very similar situation that their bills have doubled and tripled as well. I would appreciate any suggestions and or explanation that you may be able to. I also welcome anyone to contact me Scott Pall at 631-334-1400 if they would like to discuss this matter with me thank you very much

  15. Sadly my spouse ordered 3 of these for $109.91 with shipping. After watching this video, I called the customer service line and while they tried to send me new ones, I said I just wanted to return them for a refund. After several various attempts, they agrees. The refunded "all but the shipping" so $99.96 which I instantly saw on my statement as a refund. So thanks for this video explaining the ridiculous scam. And happy I only lost $9.95 for the mistake. Also, the company doesn’t even want them back! LOL
